About the Mangosteen Fruit
For thousands of years, the people of Southeast Asia have traditionally anticipated a harvest that is only available twice a year.  This is the harvest of the mangosteen, or as the islanders affectionately call it, The Queen of Fruits.  In a part of the world that offers hundreds, if not thousands, of fruits, nuts and herbs, this fruit is valued above all the others.

In Southeast Asian countries, the entire mangosteen fruit was traditionally used for medicinal purposes like controlling fevers and warding off various infections.  In more recent years, the fruit has become known for its premium taste and exceptional flavor, and is often referred to as the Fruit of the Gods.

The mangosteen fruit, Garcinia man-gostana, is about the size of a peach.  The smooth, dark purple rind encloses a snow-white fruit.  It comes from a tree that takes ten years to mature.  Fully mature trees can be up to 80 feet tall and may produce thousands of individual fruit every year.

The founders of XanGo saw great potential in this exquisite fruit that came from a patient tree. They knew that eventually this fruit would be available to the rest of the world, and they wanted to be the first to market.  The research on the mangosteen was astounding, and the founders committed to develop a singular product, unique in the entire world.  They sought out the best minds in the dietary supplement industry to help develop a delicious and beneficial beverage.  The juice they have developed - XanGo juice - is a result of modern science and ancient folklore.  The published research on mangosteen quickly revealed a potent antioxidant power in the fruit.  This power comes from xanthones, or "superantioxidants." The pericarp, or rind, of the mangosteen is particularly rich in xanthones.
